DIY Vintage Truck & Christmas Tree Coasters | Another Coaster Friday | Craft Klatch

The vintage trucks are a popular Christmas and holiday design!  I decided to create resin coasters with that theme.

You will need:
Coaster mold:  http://amzn.to/2zluUd8
Wood cutouts:  I found them at Joanns
Fine blue glitter:  http://amzn.to/2AmtKRH
Fine white glitter:  http://amzn.to/2jClAue
Dimensional paint:  http://amzn.to/2i6D55z
Red, green and black acrylic paint:  http://amzn.to/2Al39V8
Resin (use whatever resin brand you like):
Clear Cast:  http://amzn.to/2z4rxGw

Optional:
Cricut (Amazon):  http://amzn.to/2wChE2l
Cricut vinyls:  http://amzn.to/2w4DOJj

Directions:

1.  I found these cute wood cutouts.

2.  I painted them, with acrylic paint.

3.  I mixed two ounces of resin and added blue and white glitter.

4.  I poured one ounce into two molds.

5.  I used a lighter to pop the bubbles and allowed it to cure for 12 hours.

6.  I added dimensional fabric paint to look like snow.

7.  I painted glue on the back of the cutouts and put them in place on the coasters.

8.  I added some additional paint, so it looks like the car and truck are in the snow.

9.  I then added "Merry Christmas" that I cut out of vinyl, using my Cricut.  You can use a sticker instead.

10.  I mixed about an ounce of resin (or less) and dripped it on the wood cut outs.  This thin layer seals the wood and prevents bubbles from being created and trapped when we do the final pour.

11.  Then I used a lighter and popped the bubbles.

12.  I mixed more resin and poured it over the coasters.

13.  I popped the bubbles and let it cure a minimum of 12 hours.

14.  Then I ended up with these great coasters!  Very festive!
