Bee Honeycomb Resin Coaster | Another Coaster Friday | Craft Klatch

Learn how to make an easy resin coaster with a bee theme!  Fun home decor project.

Here is a quick video tutorial, so you can see exactly how I made it:

You will need:
Silicone mat:
Pigment powders:
Transparency film (laser):
Transparency film (inkjet):
Resin (use whatever resin brand you like):
Clear Cast:
FX Epoxy: ~ This one is heat resistant to 500 degrees F.

1.  I mixed an ounce of resin with a yellow gold pigment powder.

2.  I also added some microbeads, in gold.

3.  I poured it onto the silicone mat.  This allows for a freeform style.

4.  I let it spread out and popped the bubbles with a lighter and let it cure 12 hours.

5.  I printed bees onto transparency film.  I have the transparency laying on a white sheet of paper, so you can see them.

6.  I mixed one ounce of resin and spread part of it over the gold resin.

7.  I cut out the bees out and slid them into the resin.

8.  I pressed them down with my stir stick.

9.  I popped the bubbles with the lighter.

10.  I poured the remainder of resin on the coaster.

12.  I popped the bubbles and let it cure a minimum of 12 hours.

13.  I then peeled it off of the silicone mat.

You can see the honeycomb shape through the resin, making it look like a honeycomb.

The back has a textured surface.

It's definitely fun and easy coaster to try!  I hope you like it!
