Who loves Captain America?  Who is your favorite superhero?  My niece loves Captain America, so I suspect she will steal this one.

You will need:
Coaster mold:  http://amzn.to/23L46dn
Red pigment:  http://amzn.to/1OlL8Ir

See how easy it is in this video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Mix one ounce of resin, according to the package directions.
2.  Mix in one or two drops of the pigment and mix well.
3.  Pour into the coaster mold and pop bubbles with your lighter.
4.  Let sit for a minimum of 12 hours.
5.  Print out the Captain America shield and size it to be just under four inches.  FYI:  I used a laser printer and card stock.
6.  Cut it out with your scissors.
7.  Using a red permanent marker, color just the edge of the image.
8.  Using the Super Gloss Mod Podge, paint a layer on the dried resin and on the back of the image.  Put it on the resin, paint more Mod Podge on top and use a finger (with Mod Podge on it) and rub it along the image.  This will insure the image is flattened and no bubbles are underneath.
9.  Allow to dry and do it one or two more times.  Allowing to 100% dry after the final layer.  Also, be sure you have the edges sealed.
10.  Mix one ounce of resin and pour it over the image.
11.  Pop bubbles with lighter and allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.
That's it!  No you can unmold it!  Whoohoo!

Thanks for stopping by! Remember:  Life's too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!  Stay safe!!

DIY Hello Kitty Drink Coaster ~ Another Coaster Friday Craft Klatch

This week we are doing a Hello Kitty coaster!!  I made a Hello Kitty coaster with resin, a few years ago.  This time, I decided to work with polymer clay.

You will need:
-  White polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/1SF7OPs
-  Yellow polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/1MwZR2R
-  Black polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/1Ywzrif
-  Black permanent marker:  http://amzn.to/1WuSo6u
-  Red polymer clay:
-  Pasta machine (optional):  http://amzn.to/1SF8d4D

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Soften the white clay by kneading it in your hands, or by running it through the pasta machine several times.  I ran it through the #5 setting.
2.  I printed out two images of Hello Kitty and I sized it to be at least four inches tall.
3.  I cut out the first image for the outline of Hello Kitty's head.  Out of the second image, I specifically cut out the bow, eyes and nose.
4.  I laid the Hello Kitty head on the white clay and with a craft knife, I cut out the clay to the shape of Hello Kitty's head and removed the excess clay.
5.  I repeated the process with the red clay for the bow, the black clay for the eyes and the yellow clay for the nose.  However, I rolled these thinner, on a #4 setting with the pasta machine.  FYI:  You can use a rolling pin or brayer to roll out the clay as well.
6.  I carefully placed the red clay bow on the white clay, where the bow would be.
7.  I did the same with the eyes and nose.
8.  I rolled whiskers out of black clay, added them and trimmed them as necessary.
9.  I carefully lifted the whole piece up and carefully placed it on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
10.  I baked it according to the directions on the clay package.
11.  Once cooled, I use a Sharpie market and outlined the piece as it looked on the original artwork.  You can bake it again to make the marker more permanent.

That's it!  Thank you for stopping by!  Happy Crafting and stay safe!

It's time for a foodie coaster!  You can have a good old fashioned burger sitting on your coffee table, waiting for guests to use the pieces as coasters!

You will need:

Tan polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/23gx3Tt
Brown polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/20cwRPY
Yellow polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/1qx58xg
Orange polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/1Nchm37
Green polymer clay:  http://amzn.to/20cxby2
Pastel chalks:  http://amzn.to/1NchBuW
Clay blade:  http://amzn.to/1XkwEZj
Multi-surface paint:  http://amzn.to/1UM3bcJ

Here is the view tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Take the tan clay and condition it.  Conditioning is just kneading it and manipulating it until it warms up and is very pliable.
2.  Roll it into a ball and then flatten it into the shape of the bottom of the bun.
3.  Shape more tan clay into the top of the bun.
4.  Scrape brown pastel chalk into a cup.  Use a soft paint brush and use the chalk to give the buns a toasted look.
5.  Take the brown clay and condition it.  Shape it into a hamburger patty shape.
6.  Using black and brown chalk scraped into a cup, use a soft brush and brush the clay to give it a charred or grilled look.  Paint on grill markings.
7.  Mix the yellow and orange cheese and use a rolling pin or pasta machine, to flatten it.  Take your blade and cut it into a square.
8.  Using green clay, flatten it and create a roundish shape.  Make the edges curled to give it a lettuce look.
9.  Bake all of the pieces, according to the clay package directions.
10.  Using multi-surface paint, in a white birch and a skewer stick, paint on little sesame seeds on the top half of the bun.  Bake to cure the paint.

That's it!  Now you have 1 burger, but 4-5 coasters!!  Whoohoo!  You can use dollar store pieces to create a little stand.  It makes a nice presentation, rather than having a burger just sitting on your coffee table.

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Crafting and stay safe!
