Valentine's Day Wood and Resin Heart Coasters | DIY Project | Another Coaster Friday | Craft Klatch

Here's another Valentine's Day craft to make your home more festive and it's a functional craft idea because they are drink coasters!

The links below are affiliate links and help support this channel and blog at no additional cost to you.

You will need:
Wood hearts:  I found them at Michaels
Fine red glitter:  http://amzn.to/2kwYDuF
Packing tape:  http://amzn.to/2kWzAlx
Metallic rose paint:  http://amzn.to/2k0ixuS
Metallic silver paint:  http://amzn.to/2jI1AV8

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Paint the wood hearts silver and pink.  It will take at least two coats.
2.  Once dry, use packing tape and tape it to the back of the hearts.  Make sure there is a good seal with the heart and the tape, so the resin will not seep out.
3.  Mix a half an ounce of resin with fine red glitter and using your stir stick, drip it into the openings of the hearts.
4.  Once full, take your lighter and pop the bubbles.
5.  Allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.
6.  Once cured, you can remove the tape off the back of the coasters.
7.  The tape I used did not leave any sticky residue.  If yours does, you can either paint a thin coat of resin over it, or you can use clear nail polish or other clear sealer.

That's it!  Thanks for stopping by!

https://amzn.to/2D29yGL
-  Glitter:  I used fine green, fine red, fine blue and chunky purple  https://amzn.to/2D1VBsj
-  Gold and white acrylic paint:  https://amzn.to/2ywtM7P
-  Packing tape:  http://amzn.to/2gPMVGK
-  Dremel:  http://amzn.to/2gPT4Tb
-  Ribbon:  https://amzn.to/2D1PXX4

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Paint the wood laser pieces with acrylic paint.  I painted the polar bear white and the others gold.

2.  Once dry, take packing tape and put it on the back of the ornaments.

3.  Burnish it down, to make sure you have a good seal.

4.  Trim off the excess, so you don't end up getting stuck to it, while you are working on them.

5.  Mix your resin, according to the package directions.  Two ounces should be plenty.  Separate into four different cups.  Mix blue glitter into one, red glitter into another, green glitter into another and chunky purple glitter into the last one.

6.  Carefully drip the glitter resin into the wood pieces.

5.  Pop bubbles with your lighter - be careful because they are  pieces of wood.  Allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.

6.  If needed, drill hole for ribbon.

8.  Add ribbon and your are finished!

Now decorate your tree!
