Create galaxy drink coasters using resin, glitter and pigment powders.  I'll show you how to in DIY craft tutorial!

You will need:
Coaster mold:  http://amzn.to/2fMSpW1
Resin:  http://amzn.to/2en4nQL
Pigment powders:  http://amzn.to/2eItVJo
Black pigment:  http://amzn.to/2fqrWco
Transparent blue pigment:  http://amzn.to/2eIuvGV
Transparent purple pigment:  http://amzn.to/2fadW7l
Glitter:  Use a variety of fine and chunky glitters
Nail polish:  Use inexpensive nail polish that are metallic and glitter

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Mix three ounces of resin, according to the package directions.
2.  Mix a little bit of black, blue and purple resin pigment.
3.  Mix well and then mix in glitter - I used a combination of chunky and fine glitters.
4.  Pour into the cavities of the coaster mold.
5.  Use a lighter to pop bubbles and allow it to cure for about and hour to an hour and a half.
6.  Mix one ounce of resin and split into three cups.  Mix different colored pigment powders into the resin (I used white, pink and blue).
7.  Using your stir stick and skewer stick to add the resin to the partially cured resin.  I sprinkled glitter on top of it too.  Keep working it, until you get the look you want.
8.  On the third coaster, I used nail polish on the coaster.  Use cheap nail polish - I used metallic and glitter polishes.  Paint it on to get the galaxy look.
9.  Wait about and hour before mixing three more ounces of resin.
10.  Pour over all of the coasters and pop bubbles with lighter.
11.  Allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.

That's it!  Pull them out of the mold and you have awesome galaxy coasters!

Pokemon - DIY Project - Drink Coasters - Another Coaster Friday - Craft Klatch

Pokemon Go has brought Pokemon back to the attention of the mainstream.  However, a couple of my 20 year old nephews gave me a lesson that it never went away.  This week we are doing Pokemon coasters!

You will need:
-  Coaster mold:  http://amzn.to/2bxtpNb
-  Easy Cast Resin (clear):  http://amzn.to/2b0F9el
-  Fast Cast Resin (white):  http://amzn.to/2bxuQLf
-  White pigment (optional): http://amzn.to/2bxv3hC
-  Transparency film (laser):  http://amzn.to/2b0GbXQ
-  Transparency film (inkjet):  http://amzn.to/2b0FldF
-  Circle cutter:  http://amzn.to/2bqoy4m

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Prepare the Easy Cast, according to the package directions.  You need approximately 1/2 ounce of the resin, per coaster.
2.  Pour it into each cavity.  Pop the bubbles with your lighter and allow it cure at least 12 hours.
3.  Print Pokeballs onto your transparency film.  It will work with a laser printer, or an inkjet printer, just make sure you have the one that works with your printer.
4.  Cut them out.  You want them to be just under four inches in diameter.
5.  Mix approximately 1/2 ounce of the Easy Cast and pour it into each cavity.
6.  Slide the Pokeball images in and press them down with your stir stick, making sure to press out all the bubbles.  Pop bubbles with lighter.
7.  Once cured, mix one ounce of resin per coaster.  I used the Fast Cast for this one, but you can use the Easy Cast with the white pigment.  I used the Fast Cast because it cures white and is fast.
8.  Pour the resin into the molds and allow to cure.
9.  Print out your Pokemon characters onto your transparency film.  I chose Pikachu, Squirtle and Bulbasaur.
10. Cut them out to under four inches in diameter.
11.  Mix one ounce of resin, per coaster and pour it into the cavities.
12.  Slide in the images.  Press down with the stir stick and pop the bubbles.

That's it!  Now you have Pokemon coasters!  It looks like a Pokeball on one side and the character on the other side.

Thanks for stopping by!

Garbage to Gorgeous ® Episode #14: Paris Chair Makeovers ~ Craft Klatch ~ How To

These two gems were great finds!  The black one was found curbside and I was ecstatic to beat the garbage man to this one!  I love the size and the shape.  It was missing the seat, but that could easily be cured.  The white one was a $5 buy on Craigslist.  It was a good deal, but that was before I found people give amazing things away for free and generally prefer to leave it outside and i don’t have to see them and they don’t have to see me.

I thought these would be quick updates and fixes, until I cleaned the white one and a layer of paint started washing off.  Ugh…of course!

Items I used:
Black spray paint (with primer):  http://amzn.to/2ay2xuV
Quilt batting:  http://amzn.to/2b1UMm8
Heavy duty stapler and staples:  http://amzn.to/2ay3oM4
Plywood to replace the missing seat: best bet is hardware store
Paris fabric:  I bought it at Hobby Lobby, but there are a lot of great options http://amzn.to/2aKer8A
Odorless mineral spirits:  http://amzn.to/2aZwQP0

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  I removed the seat from the chair that had the seat.  Make sure you keep the screws.
2.  I washed the chairs - that’s when the white paint started washing off.  So, I ended up stripping the whole thing…..it was like 1000 degrees in the garage.  I was not happy!
3.  Once I stripped it, I cleaned it with mineral spirits.
4.  Then, I painted everything with a paint that already had primer built in.
5.  I created a template for the chair missing the set.  I taped some pieces of paper together, and placed it on the chair and cut it to fit.
6.  I traced it on the plywood and then cut it out.
7.  I traced the seats onto the foam and cut it out.
8.  I cut quilt batting and doubled it up.
9.  I layered the fabric (face down), the quilt batting, the foam and then the wood seat.  Once you have it placed, be sure to lift up one end to see where the pattern falls and adjust accordingly.
10.  Start stapling.  I like to put one staple into each side and then go around, leaving the corners until the end.
11.  Trim off excess and reattach them to the chairs.

That’s it!  Now you have fabulous Paris chairs!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Now go make something beautiful again!

Have a little fun decorating your desk!  Decorate it with a resin donut paperweight!

You will need:
-  Silicone mold:  http://amzn.to/29g5Avh
-  Ultimate glue:  http://amzn.to/29jlvYQ
-  Pink acrylic paint
-  White acrylic paint
-  Resin pigments
     -  Brown:  http://amzn.to/29jl6FV
     -  White:  http://amzn.to/29fxp8H
     -  Yellow:  http://amzn.to/29jlh3V
-  Colorful beads:  http://amzn.to/299Vdom

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Mix two ounces of resin, according to the package directions.
2.  Mix in a little brown, white and yellow to create a bread/dough color.
3.  Pour one ounce into two cavities.
4.  Pop the bubbles with the lighter.  Allow to cure for a minimum of 12 hours.
5.  Unmold the two halves.
6.  You may find they look like bagel halves.  Take the glue and glue the two halves together to create the donut.  Allow the glue to dry.
7.  In a cup, mix glue, with a little bit of pink acrylic paint.  You can add a little white as well.  Remember, you are mixing the paint with white glue, so it will look very pastel.  However, the glue dries clear, so the end color will be darker.
8.  Spread the glue mixture on the donut, like you are frosting it.
9.  While the glue is wet, sprinkle the beads on the glue, so they will stick.
10.  Allow everything to dry!

That's it!  Once dry, you can hold down a stack of papers, or a stack of napkins at a picnic!
