DIY Scarecrow Resin Coasters ~ Another Coaster Friday ~ Craft Klatch

This is the resin I used for this project:
***FX Poxy (clear):  http://amzn.to/2AF3Pkk ~ According to the manufacturer, this one is heat resistant to 500 degrees F and is UV resistant.
Fast Cast (optional for white background):  https://amzn.to/2wTZ6wc

Directions:

1.  I used copper pigment powder and dusted the mold.

2.  I mixed one ounce of resin and mixed in copper and gold pigment powder.  I am using a fast curing resin, that cures white.  You can use a clear drying resin and add pigments as well, but you need to adjust the color, to your liking.

3.  I poured it into the mold and let it cure.  Because I used a resin that cures white, it will become much lighter!

4.  Once cured, I laid the button eyes on the coaster, for placement purposes and then painted the nose.

5.  I painted the mouth.

6.  I glued on the eyes.

7.  I mixed one ounce of resin and poured it into the mold, popped the bubbles and let it cure a minimum of 12 hours.

8.  Once cured, I pulled it out of the mold.  This is what the back looked like.

9.  Cut two identical triangles out of brown felt.

10.  Use a glue gun and put glue on the edge of the triangle.

11.  Cut small pieces of raffia.

12.  Glue the pieces to the corners of the hat.

13.  Glue the open edge together.

14.  Glue small pieces of orange rectangle felt.

15.  Glue on a piece of raffia.

16.  The hat is snug enough, but can still be removed.

That's it!  Look at that cute scarecrow!

Directions:

1.  Mix two ounces of resin.  You can either use a clear curing resin and add white pigment and let it cure.  Or you can use a faster curing resin, that cures white, in about 15 minutes.  Either will work fine.  You want to have one ounce in each coaster cavity.

2.  While the resin is curing, print out the silhouettes and cut them out with a circle cutter.  TIP:  Cut on the side that is not printed on.  You reduce the risk of scratching the image.

3.  Once cured, you can start adding the alcohol inks.  You can add them in any pattern you want and any combination you want.  You can move them around with a skewer stick.  Then, let them dry.

4.  Once dry, mix two more ounces of resin and pour into the molds.

5.  Pop the bubbles with your lighter.

6.  Slide in your transparency images.

7.  Press them down with the stir stick.

8.  Pop the bubbles and let them cure a minimum of 12 hours.

Once cured, you can pull them out of the molds!  They have a classic look to them!

Directions:
1.  You want to start with a white background.  You need one ounce for each coaster.  You can either use regular resin and add a white pigment or you can a quick curing resin that cures white.  Mix your resin and pour it into the mold cavities.

2.  I printed eyeballs out onto transparency film.

3.  I cut them out with my circle cutter.  TIP:  Cut on the side that is not printed on.

4.  Once the resin has cured, you want to mix one more ounce of resin per coaster and pour it over the white.

5.  Use a lighter to pop the bubbles.

6.  Slide the transparency film eyeballs into the resin.

7.  Press them down with your stir stick.  Make sure you press out all of the bubbles.

8.  Pop the bubbles with your lighter.  Allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.

9.  Once cured, remove from mold.

That's it!  Now you can keep an eye on your drink!
