Raised Spider Coaster DIY ~ Another Coaster Friday ~ Craft Klatch

I thought I'd try to go a little 3-D on this coaster and make a raised spider coaster for Halloween!  It is fully functional, but might be easier to knock down, so this is for fun, user beware!

It's always fun to make things for Halloween!  I like to make more involved project and easy projects.  This one is pretty easy.  I've also wanted to get my Cricut involved in my Halloween projects and this seemed perfect!

DIY Glitter Spider Votives ~ Dollar Store Craft

Halloween is coming...so let's not waste another minute!  Let's make some easy Dollar Tree spider votives to glam up your Halloween!

You will need:

-  Mod Podge

-  Chunky orange glitter

-  Chunky purple glitter

-  Gem spiders (from Dollar Tree)

-  Glass vases or votives (also from Dollar Tree)
-  Glue - I used E6000
-  Battery operated flickering tea light

Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:

1.  Paint the inside of the vases with Mod Podge.

2.  Pour in glitter.

3.  Move it around until the glitter is stuck to all the Mod Podge.  Allow to dry.

4.  Repeat with the second color.

5.  Once dry, see if there are any spots you need to touch up, or if you need a second coat of glitter.

6.  Using a wire cutter, snip off the hook of the spider ornaments.

7.  Using E6000, glue the spiders onto the sides of the votives.

8.  Once dry, add the battery operated tea light and you have some inexpensive and glam Halloween decorations!

Spider Pumpkin for Halloween

I said this is my last pumpkin of the season, but  I've been asked to do some Thanksgiving pumpkins, so we'll see if I am back in pumpkins after all!

You will need:

-  Pumpkin - I used a smaller one for this craft

-  8 Black pipe cleaners

-  Black acrylic paint

-  2 Googly eyes

-  Glue

-  Red acrylic paint

-  Needle and/or skewer stick

Directions:
1.  Paint the pumpkin with black acrylic paint - it will take at least two coats
2.  Taking the skewer stick, poke four holes on each side of the pumpkin.  This is for the legs, so space accordingly.  I didn't poke all the way in with the skewer, I just started the hole and then finished with a needle tool.
3.  Put the pipe cleaners in part way and bend to create the legs.
4.  Glue goggly eyes into place.
5.  Using red acrylic paint, create a mouth

That's it!  No you have a spider pumpkin!

Creepy Spider Sac Craft Tutorial

This tutorial is for a small spider sac.  It helps add a little creepy to your Halloween decor!  You could have a bunch of these little sacs hanging all over the place!

 You will need:
-  Liquid starch
-  White thread/string
-  Glue
-  Plastic spiders
-  Small balloon
-  Glitter
-  Clothing hanger

Directions:

1.  Put starch in a bowl

2.  Blow up balloon into a round ball

3.  Cut off a length of thread and carefully put it into the starch.  If you just throw it in the starch all willy-nilly, it will get tangled up.

4.  Tie a string on the end of the balloon

5.  Begin taking the thread that is in the starch and wrap it around the balloon -  all the while keeping the string tied to the balloon from getting tangled with the string you are wrapping.  The string tied to the balloon is temporary and will be used to hang the wet sac overnight to dry.  After it is dry, it will be removed, so it is important to make sure it does not get tangled with the other string.

6.  When you have the balloon covered as much as you want, tie the string that is tied to balloon onto a clothing hanger and hang some place where it can drip dry over night.  While it is hanging, take more strings and begin letting them hang and then wrap them so they are hanging down.  It's best to watch the video for this part.

7.  Allow to dry overnight.

8.  Remove from the hanger and pop the balloon with a toothpick

9.  Carefully remove the balloon

10.  Take a dry string and thread it through the sac, with the elongated side up.  Tie a knot and put a dab of glue on the knot.  Now move the string so the knot is hidden in the sac.

11.  Glue your spiders on the outside of the sac.  Put some right on the string that is to be used to hang the sac, so it is up against the sac.

12.  Glue on remaining spiders.

13.  Take white glue and glitter and here and there put on some white glue and sprinkle on the glitter to give it a little Halloween magic!

14.  Hang it up and creep everyone out!

Halloween Glitter Spider Craft Tutorial

Who says a spider can't be cute?  Add a little sparkle to your Halloween festivities with this glitter spider!

It's easy and fun!

Here's the video tutorial:

You will need:

- Styrofoam ball
-  Black acrylic paint
-  Black glitter
-  Google eyes
-  Eight, black pipe cleaners
-  White glue
-  Wooden skewer
-  Red felt

Directions:

1.  Paint styrofoam ball black with acrylic paint and let dry

2.  Paint white glue on painted ball and dip into black glitter let dry

3.  With a wooden skewer poke four holes on each side of the ball 

4.  Insert pipe cleaners and bend legs

5.  Glue on google eyes

6.  Cut shape of lips from felt and glue on

Optional:  If you want to hang the spider, poke the skewer through the spider and feed a fishing line through.  Hot glue in place - cover any visible glue with glitter.  Hang and enjoy!

HALLOWEEN SPIDER GOLF BALL CRAFT TUTORIAL

Here's another golf ball craft!

This cute little spider is made of a golf ball and I am considering making several to hang from my dining room light fixture for Halloween!  If I hang them, I need to insert a small eye hook at the top and hang with fishing line.  I'll keep you posted!


Here is the video tutorial:

You will need:
-  Golf ball (not a good expensive one)
-  2 google eyes
-  Wire hanger
-  Glue
-  Black spray paint
-  Wire cutters and needle nose pliers
-  Drill or rotary tool

Directions:

1.  Cut pieces from wire hanger to approximately 2 inch lengths - you will need eight pieces - end bend on each end to create an "S" shape

2.  Drill holes (four on each side) of the golf ball

3.  Dip one end of each leg into glue and insert into ball

4.  Position and adjust the legs so he/she stands as you would like and let glue dry

5.  Spray paint the whole thing black and let dry

6.  Add google eyes and you are done!  Enjoy the cute spider!
