Create quick and easy Pilgrim coasters that are perfect for Thanksgiving. I'll show you how to in this DIY craft tutorial! These are inexpensive, easy and perfect for a kids craft, or if you are looking to do a Girls Night before the holidays, this will get everyone in the spirit!
You will need:
- Cork: http://amzn.to/2fsCzvg
- Acrylic paint in black, white, gray, flesh, gold and brown
Here is the video tutorial:
Directions:
1. Using the roll of cork and the pilgrim templates below (or pilgrims you drew yourself), measure how much cork you need and cut out two equal rectangles.
2. Pull back the backing, line them up and stick the two sticky sides together.
3. Trace the templates onto the cork. Tip: Using a pencil is better than pen.
4. Cut out the pilgrims.
5. Paint them. Let the kids get creative!!
6. Let them dry.
***While the paint is drying, it may cause them to curl a little. Take the curled coasters and on the edge of a counter top, or table, run the backside (non-painted side) along the counter (I show how in the video above) and they should straighten right up!
Here are the templates:
That's it! Happy Thanksgiving! Remember: Life's too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!™ Stay safe!
Here is the video tutorial, so you can see exactly how I made them!
Directions:
1. I started with unfinished wood napkin rings...
...and unfinished laser cut leaves.
First, paint napkin rings and lightly paint the wood leaves with the matching color.
2. Once dry, put packing tape on the back of the leaves. Be sure to burnish the tape down, so you have a nice seal. The tape will prevent the resin from leaking out, so you need to make sure the seal is tight.
3. Mix resin, according to the package directions.
4. Divide the resin into three cups and add a small amount of pigment into each. Find out more about the pigments HERE!
5. Drip the colored resin into the leaves.
6. Allow to cure.
7. Remove tape.
8. Glue leaves onto the napkin rings. I put them in little cups, so they would not fall over, while drying.
Once dry, that's it! Now go set a beautiful table! They have classic a stained glass look to them!

Are you ready for a no calorie pumpkin pie? How about a full sized candle pumpkin pie, just in time for Thanksgiving!! To warn you, it didn't go as smoothly as I hoped, but I think it turned out!
You will need (affiliate links):
- Pie mold - I used silicone, but metal, glass or disposable aluminum will work too: https://amzn.to/2BqvIiH
1. Create a double boiler by using either two pots, one with water and one with wax. Use an old pot for the wax, or buy a metal pitcher at the craft store, made to use for melting wax.
2. Melt wax. I used four bars of the wax and added scent and color. Tip: The wax will harden much lighter then when it is melted. Drip some on some foil and let it harden, so you can see how it will look.
3. Take three wicks and dip into the melted was and place into the mold.
4. Pour base wax in, for the pie crust. Then with the silicone basting brush, brush wax on the sides and the edge to create and build up the crust.
5. When the wax is still warm, break or scrape some the wax to give the crust some shape. Then brush some wax over it.
6. Melt more wax and add color to darken it enough to get it to the pumpkin pie color.
7. Take some skewer sticks to support the wicks. Lay them across the pie and have the wicks between skewer sticks, until the crust hardens.
8. Pour the wax into the wax pie crust. As it begins to harden, I sprinkled some cinnamon and cloves on it, just to give it the spicy look.
9. Once hardened, snip off the wicks.
10. Melt one more bar of wax. Once melted, take it off the heat, as it is hardening use your skewer stick to whip the wax. Before it hardens, and is still soft, spoon it into the cake decorating bag and do a nice big whip cream dollop in the middle of the pie and wicks.
That's it! Once hardened, you can give the candle as a hostess gift, or break it out for Thanksgiving or Christmas!
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving! Remember: Life's too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!™ Stay safe!
With Thanksgiving right around the corner I did two coasters.
Let’s start with the turkey. I have been asked to add fabric to coasters, so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone (ha ha).
Cut felt into petal shapes. I used red, rusty orange and yellow. This is for the turkey feathers.
I mixed two ounces or resin and used the Easy Cast.
Pour the resin into the mold and place the feathers into the resin, pressing them down with the stir stick and making sure they are covered.
Pop bubbles with a lighter and allow to cure.
Cut brown felt into a peanut shape and cut a waddle two eyes.
Mix more resin (2 ounces) and pour into the mold. I tried using a flesh color for the body, but when I added it to the resin, it became transparent. I had to quick switch to brown. Press all of the felt into the resin.
Pop bubbles and allow to cure.
If the resin isn’t flat, after it has cured, add a little more resin on top to level it off.
Allow to cure.
Once cured unmold them.
Thanksgiving Dinner Coaster
Mix one ounce of resin and mix white pigment into it.
Pour into mold.
Pop bubbles and allow to cure.
Print Thanksgiving dinner on transparency film.
Mix another ounce of resin.
Pour into the mold.
Slide the transparency film into the mold and press down with your stir stick. Make sure to press out all the bubbles from underneath.
Pop bubbles andallow to cure.
That's it! Unmold them and you have two great holiday coasters!
Thanks for stopping by! Stay safe and Happy Crafting!
1. Mix resin - I did two ounces, but one would probably be fine. Add the resin pigment. (Always follow directions when mixing resin and adding pigment).
2. Pour into the mold. Pop bubbles and allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.
3. Remove from mold. Taking a combo of orange and gold acrylic paint, paint on pumpkin details. Highlight with black is needed. Allow to dry.
4. Cut pieces of green construction paper into the shape of leaves and Mod Podge them into place. Follow with one or tow additional coats, over the whole front of the coaster. Allow to completely dry.
5. Prepare some jewelry clay and shape it into a log. Attach it to the top of the pumpkin.
6. Carefully brush on pigment powder, on the front and back of the stem.
7. Prepare more resin (1 ounce is perfect). Pour onto the front of the coaster, trying not to let it overflow. Pop bubbles.
That's it! Now you have a cool coaster. Thanks for stopping by! Stay safe and Happy Crafting!
Thanksgiving is coming and here's an easy craft for the kids to get involved in! Picture a whole group of them on the Thanksgiving dinner table. They can be used place cards, or put little treat bags inside, or make them part of a whimsical centerpiece!
You will need:
- Toilet paper roll
- Construction paper - brown, red, yellow, orange, blue, green, purple
- Googly eyes
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Here are some items I used, available through Amazon:
Here is the video tutorial:
Directions:
1. Roll the toilet paper roll in the brown construction paper. Where the construction paper meets, make a mark - give yourself a little bit of overlap. Cut at that mark.
2. Roll it into the construction paper again and leave about a half an inch on either side of the tube. Make a mark, unroll it and cut.
3. Put some of your glue at one end of the construction paper and glue it onto the toilet paper roll. Put glue at the other end of the construction paper and roll it tight onto the tube.
4. Cut strips on the ends of the tube, but don't cut into the tube.
5. Put glue onto the end of each of the strips and fold them into the tube. Repeat on the other end.
6. Cut shapes of feathers in various colors.
7. Make sure the seam is on the back of the turkey and glue on the feathers.
8. Glue on the eyes.
9. Cut a small triangle out of yellow, for the beak. Cut a squiggle shape for the waddle and glue those on.
